Negations in the Adjunctive Discursive Logic

چکیده

In the logical literature, Discursive (or Discussive) Logic introduced by Stanis law Jaśkowski is seen as one of the earliest examples of the so-called paraconsistent logic. There is some confusion over what is actually discursive logic nevertheless. One of the possible sources of the confusion is easy to discern; it comes from the fact that Jaśkowski published his two papers in Polish and their English translations appeared many years later. Up till 1999, no one but a Polish reader was able to read Jaśkowski‘s paper on the discursive conjunction and consequently some authors took discursive logic to be a foremost example of a non-adjunctive logic. The situation became even more complicated when da Costa, Dubikajtis and Kotas presented an axiomatization with discursive connectives as primitive symbols. It turned out that a connective of the discursive conjunction they considered did not coincide with any connective presented by Jaśkowski. Moreover, their axiomatization contained some axiom schemata that were not generally valid in Jaśkowski‘s logic. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the confusion surrounding the discursive logic. We will present a new (direct) semantics and axiomatization of Jaśkowski‘s adjunctive discursive logic and show how to define and axiomatize two additional connectives of negation.

Logic programming with default, weak and strict negations

This paper looks at logic programming with three kinds of negation: default, weak and strict negations. A 3-valued logic model theory is discussed for logic programs with three kinds of negation. The procedure is constructed for negations so that a soundness of the procedure is guaranteed in terms of 3-valued logic model theory.

Negation Without Negation in Probabilistic Logic Programming

Probabilistic logic programs without negation can have cycles (with a preference for false), but cannot represent all conditional distributions. Probabilistic logic programs with negation can represent arbitrary conditional probabilities, but with cycles they create logical inconsistencies. We show how allowing negative noise probabilities allows us to represent arbitrary conditional probabilit...

Applying a Method to Extend Lattice-valued Fuzzy Negations Generated from T-conorms Using Retractions

It is proposed in [Extension of Fuzzy Logic Operators Defined on Bounded Lattices via Retractions, Computer & Mathematics with Applications, 63: 1026–1038, 2012] a method for extending t-norms, t-conorms and fuzzy negations from a sublattice M of bounded lattice L considering a relaxed notion of sublattices. In this work we apply this method to extend a class of fuzzy negations constructed from...

Constructive Discursive Logic: Paraconsistency in Constructivism

We propose a constructive discursive logic with strong negation CDLSN based on Nelson’s constructive logic N as a constructive version of Jaśkowski’s discursive logic. In CDLSN, discursive negation is defined similar to intuitionistic negation and discursive implication is defined as material implication using discursive negation. We give an axiomatic system and Kripke semantics with a complete...

Combining Closed World Assumptions with Stable Negation

We study the semantics of disjunctive logic programs that simultaneously contain multiple kinds of default negations. We introduce operators not G , not W , and not STB in the language of logic programs to represent the Generalized Closed World Assumption, the Weak Generalized Closed World Assumption, and the stable negation, respectively. The notion of stratiication involving diierent kinds of...
